This charming, historic house is in a peaceful setting just below the Mercat Cross in the heart of the village, close to the River Teith. One of a pair, it has been thoughtfully furnished and decorated to a high standard, retaining original features such as the kitchen range with its cosy fire. Doune is an entirely authentic village with several good food and gift shops, a variety of places to eat, and most of all a genuine welcome.
Doune Castle is familiar as the setting for Monty Python's Holy Grail, and is well worth a visit, along with imposing Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument. Ideally placed to explore Loch Lomond National Park, enjoy a walk in the hills looking out for red kites or deer or fishing on the Teith or Tay. Pubs 50 yards.
