A former 1800's Coastguard's cottage on the North Yorkshire Heritage coast with sea and country views. Quiet rural location at the end of an unmade track but 1 1/2 miles from the unspoilt Victorian town Saltburn-by-the-sea which has good facilities.
Refurbished in 2007, the cottage retains character features including an original Yorkshire range and stripped pine doors. Sleeps up to 4 in a double and a twin room. There is a fenced garden with summerhouse and dogs are welcome.
The Cleveland Way is 50 yards from the door, a short walk down a winding path leads to the beach where you can walk 8 miles on golden sands. There are dramatic cliffs and rockpools to explore. A pub serving food is at the foot of the cliff. There are beach side cafes and entertainments on a small scale.
The North York Moors, including Heartbeat Country and the picturesque fishing villages of Staithes, Runswick Bay and Whitby are a short drive away. Teesdale is worth a day trip, as are the cathedral cities of York and Durham.

Directions
By Car from Saltburn-by-the-sea:
Take the A174 to Brotton (Whitby). Pass The Ship pub, continue up the hill and when it levels out look out for a bus stop and sign for bridle path on the left. Take this turn. It is a single track road which can be bumpy in places so if you have a very low car it isn't suitable, though if you drive at 5 - 10 miles an hour it is fine. Go left at the fork in the road and you will eventually reach the cottages.
