Ten minutes from a safe sandy beach, it lies 3 miles from the village of Achiltibuie. It is also on a regular bus route to Ullapool.
Achnahaird Beach : This beautiful sandy beach is just 10 minutes walk from the house. It is clean and safe - ideal for sandcastles and swimming.
The Hydroponicum : is famous for growing plants without soil. Everything from lettuces to bananas, flourish in this unique growing system and can be seen in various climate zones. Visitors can discover how hydroponics systems work and take guided tours. There is a shop selling local arts and crafts and a cafe.
Ullapool : A forty minute drive from Achnahaird. There are numerous restaurants and cafes, a nine-hole golf course, a leisure centre and swimming pool, a library and a museum. Ferries to the Isle of Lewis run twice daily throughout the year.
The Smokehouse : Summer Isles Foods produce, amongst other delights, award winning smoked salmon; situated in Altandhu, about 3 miles from Achnahaird. Visitors are welcome.
Leckmelm Gardens Gardens : On the West coast there are gardens at Attadale near Lochcarron, while Inverewe garden at Poolewe has a wide range of tender species thriving in the mild climate.
Leckmelm Gardens - with its impressive arboretum is only a few miles south of Ullapool and is open throughout the year. There is
ofcourse the amazing soil-less garden of the Hydroponicum.
Museums : The human history of the area is told in museums such as the Applecross Heritage Centre, Lochinver museum, Smithy Heritage Centre in Lochcarron, Gairloch Heritage museum and Ullapool museum and Visitor Centre.
Lochinver : A drive North along the picturesque coastal route from Achnahaird, through Inverpolly Nature Reserve, takes you to the fishing village of Lochinver .
Visit the famous Achins Bookshop along the way and Highland Stoneware once you get there: its showroom is surrounded by mosaic sculpture!.
Lochinver also has an award-winning pie shop!
Boat trips from Kylesku go inland up the sea loch to visit Europe's longest waterfall or to Kerracher Gardens.
You can also visit Inverpolly Nature Reserve, a haven for wildcats, pine martens and golden eagles.

By Road From Inverness take A835 North to Ullapool:
10 miles north of Ullapool turn left onto the single track road signed to Achiltibuie.
15 miles later you reach a T junction.
Turn right at the junction and the holiday cottage is 600 yards further on, on the right hand side, just past a road sign pointing to Achnahaird Beach.
