Beautifully situated on a secluded countryside this recently refurbished 200-year-old single story holiday cottage is on the edge of the Cairnsmore of Fleet Nature Reserve in Galloway. An unspoilt “get away from it all” haven in SW Scotland.
Cosy cottage atmosphere, enhanced by flagstone flooring throughout the main living areas, comfortably furnished and equipped with Underfloor Central heating (from a Geothermal heat source pump) this cosy cottage is an ideal base for exploring this fascinating area. Whether you are looking for an active holiday or somewhere just to relax and unwind, Cairnsmore Stable Cottage is the ideal location.
Cairnsmore Stable Cottage Previously a smithy and dining area for the estate workers, the cottage now provides holiday accommodation for up to 4 people. Situated up a private driveway and with its own enclosed garden. There is wonderful walking in the surrounding area (highlighted by the annual Newton Stewart Walkfest) and next to the footpath to the summit of Cairnsmore of Fleet (2,300 feet). The nearby towns of Newton Stewart and Creetown provide good local services, pubs and hotels plus an excellent eighteen-hole golf course and there are extensive facilities for fishing and other outdoor pursuits in the immediate area. It makes an ideal base for the western sections of the Southern Upland Way. And the adjacent Galloway Forest Park has recently been designated as Britain’s only Dark Skies Park. For mountain bikers the Kirroughtree Forest (within ten minutes cycle of the cottage), is one of the stages on the 7Stanes Mountain Bike Network. The National Cycle Route 7 runs past the entrance to the Estate linking to the Kirroughtree(1.5 miles).
As you enter Stable Cottage, the hallway offers a storage area for outside coats and boots. There are two bedrooms, the master with a king-size bed and the second with two single beds. Egyptian Cotton bed linen and kitchen and bathroom towels are provided.
