Allanton Mill is a high quality self catering holiday cottage in a converted former water mill near Auldgirth, Dumfries, which originally housed the grain drying ovens, mill stones and mechanics for the milling of local crops. Recently converted, the original beams are back in situ and all the stone walls are original. Ideal for small groups or families looking for a self catering holiday in Dumfries & Galloway. The lounge and dining area are open plan with 2 sofas, TV and Amazon fire stick for Netflix, BBC i Player , Sky news etc and DVD player, wood burner, dining table and chairs for up to 5. Free wireless internet access is available up on request. The modern kitchen includes oven, dishwasher, washer/dryer, microwave, & fridge.
Staying upstairs, the first bedroom includes movable twin beds, which can be zipped together into a king size bed, chest of drawers, bedside table and non feather duvets and pillows. This room has a view over the burn(stream)and the valley/garden. The bathroom has double shower, sink and toilet. All towels are provided for guests. Moving downstairs to the balcony bedroom, it contains a double bed, chest of drawers, 2 bedside table and non feather duvets and pillows. A full size single bed can be added if required. This bedroom leads out onto a decked balcony complete with table-chairs and bench which overlooks the burn(stream) and the sounds of the 30' waterfall. Directions
Driving, approach Auldgirth on the A76 (Dumfries to Thornhill), and turn left at the village shop. Proceed 1 mile up the hill and turn left into our drive at the first junction. Allanton Mill cottage is at the end of the drive on the left.
The nearest bus stop is approximately 800 yards away, out of the drive and turn right to the bottom of the hill. Take care when walking on the road as there are no footpaths.
The nearest train station is in Dumfries, which is approx. 8 miles away. There are accessible taxis at the station.
